Improving my Granny Craft Skills

I've tried a few times to learn to knit, and I will practice for a few weeks, then I stop doing it and just forget.
I learned how to crochet as a child and I can go YEARS without touching a crochet needle, but it comes back to me when I do pick up the needle and a ball of yarn.  Knitting isn't the same.  So, here I go: my 5th+ attempt to learn to knit.  This post is for myself really, b/c I want a place where I can collect my knitting resources (also b/c some of these aren't "pinnable" on pinterest.

So, this site has awesome graphics and tutorials for the knit, purl, english knit and english purl.  Note to self: a stockinette stitch is just alternating a knit and purl!

Finally

We have been waiting so long.  Well, maybe not SO long.  But to us, it has almost felt like a lifetime.  Life has changed recently.  It's been a slow evolution, and I believe it's not done changing, but guess what?

Nora's time spent being happy is finally exceeding her grumpy time!!!!!

Tuesday night was as close to perfection as we have ever had.  I wanted to write this post right that moment, but of course that didn't happen.

Right now the girls' favorite show is the Elmo Christmas Countdown.  Nora started the show off by bellowing "Carol of the Bells" alongside Jennifer Hudson.  Not to be outdone by the little sis, Emmy then put her Ariel costume and high heels on and gave a dramatic (and slightly evangelical) presentation of "Do You Hear What I Hear", accompanied by Alicia Keys and Elmo.

The girls then proceeded to play, and wrestle, and play some more.

Now, Nora still has her times of squealing (with fear, definitely not delight) when Emmy comes charging at her.  And Emmy definitely still has her times of pouting and back talking- but at least we can add "enjoy one another's company" to the list of things that the girls are currently doing.

Now...If we could just get Nora to sleep in 15 minutes longer....
